O Gift of Glorious Sunrise is a new Christmas carol. It was premiered by the Vocális Chamber Choir in Buffalo, NY in December 2015.
O Gift of Glorious Sunrise
Today dawned cold so long ago,
As dark gave way to light,
All slept; the earth was quiet.
Today emerged from night.
On a bed of russet hay,
As Mary dreamed,
A small baby opened wide his eyes
To streaks of red and rosy rays
Skating ’cross the wintry skies.
Christmas Day!
The stable stirred; the world awoke.
Sunlight graced the earth.
A golden day,
Day of a holy birth.
Today dawns cold on land, sand and sea.
Children open wide their eyes
To streaks of rose, a painted sky.
O gift of glorious sunrise!
Golden Christmas Day!
